Kratom nurseries in Indonesia, in Kapuas Hulu District, are generally carried out in two activities, namely seed and cuttings nurseries.

Seedling with seeds is done by drying the fruit for 2 hours in the hot sun. After the fruit dries, the seeds will separate and soon be sown in a container filled with soil. Nursery for cultivation needs using a container from a wooden box or pot as a nursery. Kratom seeds are sown evenly on the media then the tub is covered with transparent gauze and placed in a location that is not exposed to direct sunlight. Every day, spray water using a hand sprayer so that the media does not dry out and moisture is always maintained

.Kratom farmers in Kapuas Hulu explained that kratom seeds at the age of 1 week after the seedlings have started to germinate. At the age of 1.5 – 3 months or the seeds already have 2-4 leaves, the seeds are transferred to the polybags and then placed in a slightly shaded location. Watering the kratom seeds every day, do not let the growing media dry, the weeds that grow in the polybags are immediately removed. After the seeds are 4.5 – 6 months old or about 10 Inch length, they are transferred to the plantation area.

Nursery by cuttings using stems / branches about 1 inch in diameter and 10 inches long, then planted in polybags filled with soil and placed in the shade. Maintenance of cuttings includes watering and weeding. After the 3 month old cuttings are ready to be planted on the plantation. Seedlings by cuttings take less time than seeds, but require more plant material.
